Hi Ensemblers
At the last meeting, we decided on the songs we will perform for the Santa Monica YMCA Talent Showcase, March 23rd at 3:00pm. Here is our playlist. Not sure what order we will do, but practice these songs:
Tennessee Waltz
Apache
Sukiyaki
At the next meeting, let me know if you are performing, so we will know how many players we have for each part.
The Y is a great venue, with friendly audiences, and low pressure. Hope you can make it!

Hi Group
Our next YMCA Santa Monica performance is March 23rd at 3:00. Hope you can all make it. Give some thought to what we want to play. It would be nice to offer new pieces this time, but I don't think they would mind if we repeated one from last year.
Last night we played through the following songs: Blue Moon, Sophisticated Hula, Lollipop Guild, Tennessee Waltz, Apache, Eleanor Rigby, Sleigh Ride, 76 Trombones, Ode to Joy, and Sukiyaki (and added Wagon Wheel and All of Me for fun). I think we should polish up 3 songs for the Y performance. Think about what you would like to perform. The only ones in the list above that we haven't done for a YMCA performance are Apache, Tennessee Waltz, Sukiyaki and 76 Trombones. We also haven't performed So Nice yet, so that is another contender.
Peter played is work-in-progress arrangement of Appalachia Waltz, and I think that would be a really nice addition. I hope to work up Over the Rainbow/ Wonderful World and Bethena if I can carve some time out for it.
So, that's the latest! If you find any good songs, feel free to bring them, or if you want to try your hand at arranging something, please do!
Many of the Westside Ukulele Ensemblers are also taking a class with Steven Rose at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, California. This is the end-of-year holiday concert. December 16, 2012.
